Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Deputy Campaign Manager Shehenaz (Shehey) has given assurances that the copies of emails, being circulated by party opponents, incriminating the party of having an agenda to make the country a multi religious state are bogus.

Just imagine for an Eg; if a presidential candidate or whoever offers you Mrf.1000/= and if u sell off your vote for that amount, you are selling all the power you have as a citiczen of this country only for Laari 00.54 per day! Finally the elections commission has agreed that the eligible voters list contains repeated names and names of deceased people. And the possibility that it might have 18- children can not be ignored. This is a pure fact that proves how much Golhaa wants to win this election. We should not doubt for a single second that Golhaa will do anything and everything to win this election. And he will use every possible means at his disposal. The eligible voters list contains some 200,000 names, and how is a sane person going to believe that they could not validate this list. With the presidential battle coming up in a matter of a few days, I wonder how much we really know our political leaders. I don’t mean their physical characteristics or personal lives (which we are so obsessed with), but their stand on social, economic and religious/cultural issues. A clearer picture of this could be drawn by placing them on a political spectrum based on left-right/ libertarian-authoritarian dimensions. However, only a few parties/leaders have so far described their standing on a political spectrum, or have clearly described their policies. What's your vote worth?
The other day I met an old lady on the street and we got to talking. She told me all about how she had been evicted from her home by the Government about 15 years ago. She had been living in Male' since she was just six years old, and how she considered this island her home. But she was now homeless and forced to rent since her home has been taken for government purposes. She had been fighting the system ever since. Her story was quite similar to many of the stories that one hears on this country's campaign trail. Read & Comment

Golhaabo, the Maldives Dictator can stand for a 7th term, in spite of the term limit in the amended constitution rules Supreme Court
The newly constituted Supreme Court has today upheld the decision of the majority verdict of the 5 member election commission that Dictator Gayyoom was eligible to run for office for a 7th term. This, in spite of the fact that the recently ratified constitution has a two 5-years term limit for presidency. Dictator Gayyoom is standing for election claiming that he is running for the first term under this ‘NEW’ constitution. Dictator Gayyoom appointed nine new Atoll Chiefs yesterday. Hospitals, agricultural sector, public health sector, the Dictator has no shame in promoting civil servants working in these areas to the job of Atoll Chief just days ahead of the elections. Foreign Ministry Denies “Missing” US$40 Million Tsunami Aid
The Foreign Ministry has denied allegations that they received US$40 million donated by the Emir of Qatar for tsunami relief, in response to claims made by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party. Earlier this month, the disaster management centre stated, “Maldives had not received $40 million for tsunami relief,” but did receive donated aid materials from the government of Qatar amounting to the value of $470,000.
